Uncle Giuseppe’s Takes Over King Kullen Spot

Levittown is about to experience a fresh culinary transformation as Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace prepares to move into the 50,000 square foot former King Kullen location at 3284 Hempstead Turnpike in New York, expected to open in late 2026.

The supermarket chain, founded in 2001 in East Meadow, has grown to 11 New York and New Jersey stores and is doubling down on its regional expansion as traditional grocers like King Kullen retreat. CEO Carl DelPrete shared that the store will deliver the full sensory experience fans love including fresh mozzarella made daily, artisan bread baked on-site, hand-prepared meals and imported Italian specialties, with the ambiance of a traditional marketplace where customers can see pasta and cheese prepared in real time. DelPrete emphasized that Levittown is a “natural next step” following their East Meadow beginnings and confirmed that the flagship East Meadow store will remain open and unchanged.

The transition comes after King Kullen closed its Levittown supermarket in November 2024, leaving a sizable gap in neighborhood grocery options. Uncle Giuseppe’s move represents a vote of confidence in the area’s appetite for specialty foods, authenticity, and experiential shopping that blends gourmet products with community atmosphere. While the company readies itself for the Levittown debut, they’re also opening new locations in Bohemia and Greenvale by 2026, a strategic push toward 20 stores in the tri state area by the end of the decade.

As the former King Kullen space transforms under Uncle Giuseppe’s vision, Levittown residents can look forward to a vibrant marketplace experience that promises to fill more than just shelves, it offers a sense of place and celebration of Italian food culture.
