United Supermarkets Boosts Presence in Wichita Falls

United Supermarkets has introduced its latest store concept in Wichita Falls, about two hours northwest of Dallas. This newly opened location showcases United’s innovative approach, emphasizing an extensive selection of fresh and prepared foods. “We are so excited and proud to be opening this new location in the Wichita Falls community,” Sidney Hopper, president of The United Family. “It is beautiful, spacious, and full of some of the best United Supermarkets has to offer its guests. Not to mention, it is especially meaningful to our company to put a United Supermarkets store in this neighborhood and bring commerce back to an empty building.” The grand opening marks United’s fourth establishment in Wichita Falls and the 98th store in its overall network.

Situated at 2720 S.W. Parkway, the new United grocery store spans approximately 55,000 square feet. The building previously housed a Cash Saver supermarket, which ceased operations in January 2019 after serving the community for five years. The building has been vacant since that time. Prior to that, it was an Albertsons grocery store. However, the landscape changed when Albertsons LLC declared its intent to acquire United Supermarkets in September 2013. To ensure fair competition, the Federal Trade Commission mandated the sale of two Albertsons stores in Wichita Falls and Amarillo, Texas. Now that five years have passed, Albertsons-owned United Supermarkets was permitted to use the vacant space and further solidify its position in the Texas grocery market.

United describes its newest Wichita Falls location as a cutting-edge “next-generation” supermarket, redefining the shopping experience. The store is packed with exciting features, catering to a diverse range of customer preferences. Highlights include a fresh sushi bar; an extensive selection of over 2,000 beers and wines; a Texas kitchen and café; and Ready Meals section provides convenient options for those on the go. The Streetside online grocery pickup and delivery service ensures a seamless shopping experience for busy customers. The store also excels in providing essential departments, featuring full-service bakery, floral, and meat sections that promise top-quality products. Moreover, a pharmacy with a drive-thru window adds to the convenience for customers. In the produce department, health-conscious shoppers will be pleased to find a generous assortment of organic products and produce, including locally grown fruits and vegetables. “This United Supermarkets location will bring with it an incredible product selection from its meat and seafood to its beer and wine,” Hopper added. “Guests who are familiar with our Market Steet banner will feel right at home in this store.” Market Street is The United Family’s banner that includes a mix of conventional products and natural, organic, and upscale offerings. “This store has a lot of new things to offer, but I also promise that this team will do their best to make it special every day. We are proud to serve this part of the Wichita Falls community,” stated Mitchell Veitenheimer, Director for the Wichita Falls United Supermarkets store.

Part of Albertsons Cos., The United Family operates 98 stores across Texas and New Mexico under the banners United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, Albertsons Market and United Express, along with ancillary operations R.C. Taylor Distributing, USM Manufacturing, United Food and Beverage Services, and Llano Logistics.
