On December 7th, the Barakat family officially welcomed the midtown Ventura, California community into their new Ventura Ranch Market. Sitting at 1532 E. Main St., just across the street from Cabrillo Middle School.
With more than 9,000 square feet of space, the Ventura Ranch Market building was originally a grocery store in the 1950s, but operated as a flooring retailer from the 1960s on. Its newly repainted and restored Art Deco exterior on Main Street features window art of delicious food and produce items. In addition to 30 freezer doors, and a fantastic amount of cooler space, Ventura Ranch boasts nearly 52 feet of shelving and eight cooler doors for wine sourced from local vineyards, a 500 square foot beer cave, and room for a future lunch counter.
Working together with long-time retail consultant, Jack Sage, and the local KeHE and UNFI reps, the three PRESENCE Southern California reps, Julie Young, Karen Haber and Barbara Sumner, helped to source more than 2,172 items from 137 principals (179 brands) for the opening day of Ventura Ranch Market. More items have been added since the beginning of December, and the Barakats intend to increase inventory even more in the coming months.
