Wegmans to Open First Store on Long Island

Wegmans Food Markets plans to continue to develop the New York Market with the addition of a store on Long Island in Lake Grove.  The Rochester based chain plans to open a 100,000 square foot store in the DSW Plaza shopping center.  Wegmans only recently began to move into the NYC Market with a store in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard Development in 2019 followed by a store in 2020 in Westchester County North of Manhattan.  Last summer, Wegmans unveiled plans to open their first Manhattan store at Astor Place in the East Village.  The chain also continues to grow surrounding NYC with new stores in New Jersey and their first location in Connecticut in historic Norwalk which will be their ninth state. 

Wegmans operates 106 supermarkets in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and North Carolina. This summer, Wegmans will open a store in a new store in Washington, D.C. with an additional store in Alexandria, Virginia and another one in Wilmington, Delaware.
