Whole Foods Market Chicago Gold Coast Store is 24 Karat

Whole Foods Market Midwest Region has relocated the Gold Coast Store one block down the street into a residential high rise shared with a premium Life Time Fitness. Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood is just a stone’s throw from the North Michigan Avenue shopping district, Chicago’s famous Water Tower and the Lake Michigan shoreline.  The former location was in the same high end area as the new store which is now located at 3 W. Chicago Avenue.  This 65,000 square foot store opened on April 27th inside the new “One Chicago Condominium and Apartments” building.  It features the latest grocery technologies blended with vintage textures like repurposed floor tiles.  The store also features escalators that accommodate shopping carts to help shoppers bring their groceries to their cars in the connected garage.  Like all Whole Foods Markets, the store has an assortment of locally foraged products to include local artisan products, family farmed produce and metro grown hydroponic vegetables.  The prepared food section features pizza, sushi, salad, and hot bars.  A full service coffee bar is in the store lobby as well as a taproom that serves beer, wine, and spirits.

The seafood department has a special lighted case with a sign that reads, “Supporting the future of our Oceans”!  Visual signage includes special monitors, tags and posters that highlight local suppliers and farmers.  Whole Foods Market operates 10 other stores in the Chicago City limits including the regions flagship store in nearby Kingsbury Square.
