Whole Foods Market Store Coming to the Sunshine City

On February 28th, Whole Foods Market debuted its new 40,100 square-foot store located at 201 38th Avenue North in St. Petersburg, Florida. The store’s design is inspired by St. Petersburg’s moniker as the ‘Sunshine City,’ incorporating elements reminiscent of sundials. Upon entry, customers are greeted by a radiant sun motif, complemented by décor featuring sun rays and warm hues. Curated by Dustin Kennedy, Local Forager for Whole Foods Market, the store boasts an array of over 800 locally sourced products from the Southeast region.

Key features of the St. Petersburg store include: a full-service seafood counter offering sustainably sourced options such as marinated fillets, seafood empanadas, and seafood cakes, sourced from local providers like Greg Abrams Seafood and Cox’s Seafood, a specialty department celebrating artisanal cheesemakers, offering an assortment of local cheeses from Mozzarita and Norman Love Confections, a curated grocery section featuring 365 by Whole Foods Market brand staples alongside local favorites like cold-pressed juice from Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Co. and kombucha from Mother Kombucha, a full-service meat counter offering dry-aged beef and made-in-house sausage, with locally sourced options from Adam’s Ranch, an extensive craft beer selection featuring over 180 varieties, including offerings from local breweries such as Green Bench Brewing Co. and Escape Brewing Company, a prepared foods department offering Neapolitan pizza, in-house charcuterie, sushi by Genji, and hot food and salad bars, a bakery department featuring daily-baked hearth breads and local treats like tres leches from Momma’s Baked Goods and Key Lime Pie from Keys Fisheries, and a Whole Body department offering wellness and beauty items, including products from over 30 local brands.

Customers on opening morning enjoyed complimentary coffee and breakfast bites, with the first 300 in line receiving a limited-edition tote bag and Secret Saver coupon offering discounts of up to $100. As part of its commitment to the community, Whole Foods Market donated a refrigerated van to Good Neighbors through its Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program, aimed at supporting local food rescue efforts. Additionally, a donation was made to St. Pete Free Clinic to bolster food access programs in Pinellas County.
