Willimantic Food Co-op Marks 45 Years with Community Celebration

The Willimantic Food Co-op marked a special milestone on February 8th, celebrating its 45th anniversary with a community-driven event. In honor of the occasion, community members came together to share 45 homemade cakes, a long-standing tradition that highlights the cooperative spirit of the store. Each year, volunteers sign up to bake cakes for the celebration, making it a true reflection of local support and participation. “Our anniversary is all about celebrating what has made the past 45 years so special – our community,” said Patty Smith, General Manager of the Co-op. “We’ll have 45 donated cakes, free samples, fresh hot coffee, and live music for everyone to enjoy.” Located at 91 Valley Street in Willimantic, Connecticut, the Willimantic Food Co-op is a member-owned and operated grocery store offering a wide selection of fresh produce, dairy, grains, spices, homeopathic remedies, and other everyday essentials. With nearly five decades of history, the Co-op continues to be a staple in the community, bringing people together through a shared love of good food and local connections.
