A new Whole Foods Market location opened in New York City’s FiDi (short for Financial District) neighborhood. Located in One Wall Street at 66 Broadway, the newest Whole Foods Market store sits at 42,000 square feet and features iconic design traits that pay homage to the Art Deco history of the building and to Wall Street. Shoppers can find parts of old elevator doors decorating the walls, and there is even a vintage mailbox by the escalator. The new location features a prepared-foods section with a “food hall feel”, a full-service coffee bar, and more than 200 craft beer selections including local brews. Customers will have more than 1,000 handpicked local items from NYC and the surrounding areas to choose from. Other highlights the new store showcases include a specialty department for cheesemakers and artisan producers, a full-service meat counter with butchers on hand, and made-in-house daily bread. The One Wall Street store also includes one of the retailer’s first-ever Local and Emerging Accelerator Program (LEAP) cohort members, Brooklyn-based CHKP Foods, whose chickpea plant-based yogurt launched in Northeast stores this January. The LEAP program provides mentorship, education, and potential financial support to spur business growth. The Austin, Texas-based retailer now has 18 stores in New York City, including 14 in Manhattan and four in Brooklyn.
