Sprouts Farmers Market opened a new store in Surprise, Arizona last month. The new store is a renovated former Toys R Us and marks the 46th Sprouts location in Arizona. Since the original Sprouts store opened in Arizona in 2002, the grocery retailer has sprouted over 380 locations and employed over 31,000 workers across 23 states.
Sprouts celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony, attended by Surprise Mayor Skip Hall and treated the first 200 shoppers on opening day and the day after to goodie bags filled with product samples. Other festivities included on-site seasonal fruit tasting, face painting and games. To further support the Surprise community, Sprouts is pairing their Food Rescue Program with local organization and not for profit St. Mary’s Food Bank to help divert quality food set for the landfill to local food pantries. Sprouts will donate food that cannot be sold but is still safe, edible, and nutritious to the local community.
