The former Winn-Dixie grocery store facility on Pass Road in Biloxi will be converted into the newest Rouses Market on the Mississippi Coast. It is the retailer’s first store in Biloxi. Donny Rouse, CEO of Rouses Markets, announced that his business had decided to lease property at 2348 Pass Road. Since March 15th, 2018, the 60,000-square-foot building has been vacant. Rouses is planning a full renovation of the interior and exterior. “I know Biloxi will be very excited about what we do with the space,” noted Rouse. “It will be very different from the old grocery provider that was in that spot, not only in how it looks, but in the products and services offered. We carry everything local from seafood and local produce to entire lines of Gulf Coast-made products, not just one or two selections. We will have our own sausage kitchen, smokehouse, bakery, florist, and seafood boiling room in the store, and everything you could want to eat.” Work on the store is anticipated to start in April, with an opening targeted for spring 2024. The new Biloxi location will be the company’s fifth store in Mississippi, with a sixth location coming soon. The company recently confirmed that it will open a new store in Picayune, Mississippi, strengthening its Gulf Coast presence.
