Data Insights: Channel Trends & Foot-traffic Review August 2026

September 10, 2026 |

All SPINS TPL channels are still seeing fewer unit sales this year compared to last. The Food and Regional & Independent Grocery channels are also seeing a decline in dollar sales compared to last year. The SPINS NPI channels are faring better, with the Regional & Independent Grocery and Natural Expanded being the only channels experiencing a decline in unit sales compared to last year. Across the four core SPINS channels Natural products are up in dollar sales, Specialty & Wellness products are up in all channels except Regional & Independent Grocery, and Conventional products are only up in MULO. The SPINS Attribute Ticker for the Natural Expanded channel shows that the Foodmap Diet, Gluten Free, and Labeled Organic (70-100%) attributes still have the highest sales volume and that the Up Cycled Certified attribute has the biggest growth rate. For the Conventional channel, the top three attributes by sales volume are still the Foodmap Diet, Gluten Free, and Whole 30 Approved, and the attribute with the largest growth rate is now Seed Oil Free. Lastly, looking at trends and innovation for Non-Food & Beverage label claims shows that Labeled Fragrance Free is popular in the MULO channel and Labeled Grass Fed is popular in the Natural channel.
