Data Insights: Channel Trends & Foot-traffic Review May 2026

June 22, 2026 |

In recent weeks, all TPL channels, except MULO, have experienced less dollar sales than the previous year. It is the same for units across all TPL channels. The NPI channels have all showed dollar growth, while the Regional and Independent Grocery and Natural channels have started to see a dip in unit sales. Natural products continue to perform well across all channels, as well as Specialty & Wellness products. Conventional products are down in all channels except MULO. Taking a look at the SPINS Attribute Ticker, products containing the Foodmap diet and gluten free attributes have the highest sales volume in both Conventional and Natural channels, although the Foodmap diet has seen a decline in dollar sales since last year. The Up Cycled Certified and Seed Oil Free attributes continue to see the largest dollar % change for the Natural Channel while Paleo positioned and Up Cycle Certified have the largest dollar % change for the Conventional channel. Lastly, innovative attributes across the Natural and MULO channels show that Certified Seed Oil Free and Labeled Allergen Friendly are trending in new products.
