PRESENCE, a passionate organization dedicated to making a positive impact on various global issues, is thrilled to announce its 3rd Annual Presence Gives Back Virtual 5K. This year, the event aims to raise funds for Living Lands and Waters, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the natural environment of our nation’s major rivers and watersheds. With a commitment to raising awareness about environmental issues and empowering citizens to take an active role in preserving our rivers, PRESENCE is determined to make a difference.
The Cause:
Living Lands and Waters focuses on three main goals: protection, preservation, and restoration of our rivers and watersheds. They strive to expand awareness of environmental issues surrounding our rivers and create opportunities for citizens to contribute to cleaner river environments. To further their mission, the funds raised through the 5K event will be used to purchase essential equipment such as 3 Kevlar Langley boats with trailers, 40 NRS PTC Canoe/Raft Paddles, and 4 Werner Bandit Canoe Guide Sticks. The equipment will be used as part of an expanded effort to clean up our rivers and waterways. Each boat can hold 112-15 people, allowing for greater coverage on the water.
Previous Successes:
PRESENCE’s previous virtual 5K events have proven to be immensely successful in supporting various causes. In the first year, they partnered with Alaffia for Global Empowerment and raised an impressive $32,420 to build a PRESENCE kindergarten in Togo, Africa. This initiative provided a valuable educational facility in one of the world’s poorest countries, contributing to the empowerment of Togolese women and their communities.
In the second year, PRESENCE collaborated with Traditional Medicinals and Women Serve to address the water scarcity issue in the Thar Desert. By building 20 taankas (rainwater retention systems), they raised a total of $20,659, alleviating the burden on women and girls who previously had to carry heavy water loads for hours each day.
Matching Donations:
PRESENCE’s commitment to giving back is further exemplified by their pledge to match the proceeds raised from the virtual 5K, up to $10,000. This generous initiative doubles the impact of participants’ contributions and demonstrates PRESENCE’s dedication to making a meaningful change.
