Kroger Opens New ‘Indian Experience’ Marketplace in Little Elm

Nearly 1,000 shoppers lined up before dawn for the grand opening of Kroger’s new Marketplace store in Little Elm, Texas. Located at 26587 E. University Drive in Aubrey, the 123,000-square-foot store serves Little Elm, Aubrey, Providence Village and surrounding communities. It carries more than 35,000 fresh products, including over 1,500 local items.

The store is the first Kroger location to feature its new Indian Experience concept, offering a selection of authentic Indian products and flavors. The concept builds on Kroger’s existing Asian and Hispanic Experience formats in North Texas markets with strong demand for multicultural products.

“Kroger is proud to open this new, state-of-the-art store that provides access to fresh, affordable groceries, while creating 200 new jobs for the local community,” said Rudy DiPietro, President of Kroger’s Texas Division. “We’ve tailored this store to meet the unique needs of this community with access to thousands of new, local, healthy, organic and multicultural products.”

The store also features a cut fruit station, Murray’s Cheese counter, fuel center with 14 fueling positions, grab-and-go kiosk, pharmacy and expanded general merchandise departments offering home goods, apparel and toys.

The grand opening festivities included performances by local high school music and drill teams, a ribbon cutting and appearances from community and Kroger leaders. The retailer also made donations to food rescue partner Lovepacs and the Ray E. Braswell High School music program.

Kroger said the new store created approximately 200 local jobs and was designed to meet the community’s demand for fresh, affordable, healthy, organic and multicultural products.
