Associated Food Stores Introduces Hyper-Local Market Concept in Utah

The grand opening of Macey’s Market Pinebrook in Park City, Utah, marks a significant milestone for both the communities it serves and the Macey’s brand. Associated Food Stores (AFS) has introduced the first Macey’s Market in the Pinebrook neighborhood. The Macey’s Market banner is a noteworthy addition to the traditional Macey’s grocery store model, intended to cater specifically to distinct communities. Macey’s Market takes this focus on individual communities one step farther by offering hyper-localized products and a broader selection tailored to the preferences of each community to offer an optimized shopping experience. Macey’s Market stores, strategically designed for smaller and more centralized areas, have the flexibility to source specific products and customize their offerings to match the unique characteristics of the individual neighborhoods where they are located. Macey’s Market Pinebrook, being the first of its kind, is crafted to provide a shopping experience finely tuned to the specific needs and preferences of the Pinebrook mountain community. Formerly a Fresh Market store, the location underwent an extensive transformation over the past nine months, including the addition of an ACE Hardware. This remodel, a testament to the collaborative spirit of “One AFS,” showcases the commitment of the team to the mountain community through a clean, well-lit store environment and a contemporary layout. Wayne Dalton, the creative director at AFS, contributed two murals illustrating the distinctive outdoor setting of the community, with décor provided by Cedar City, Utah-based Decorworx.

Macey’s Market Pinebrook boasts a well-lit, contemporary layout, with a notable focus on its produce department, which sources local produce throughout the year. The delicatessen offers an array of gourmet sandwiches, handcrafted salads, fresh-rolled sushi, artisan cheeses, and the locally renowned Kong Kones – towering soft-serve ice cream reaching nearly 12 inches tall. Local products, including cheeses produced a few miles away, are also featured. The center store shelves are stocked with an extensive range of grocery items, emphasizing organic and health-conscious products to support customers in embracing a healthier lifestyle. An upgraded pharmacy provides various clinical services, including strep testing and treatment, cold sore treatment, and women’s health solutions. Adding to the overall convenience, Macey’s Market includes a new Starbucks. The store also debuts Macey’s Anywhere online ordering with options for curbside pickup and home delivery services. Associated Food Stores, based in Salt Lake City, is a grocery retailer cooperative that supplies over 450 independently owned retail supermarkets across the western United States, securing its position at No. 71 on Progressive Grocer’s 2023 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America.
