The Fresh Market Debuts First Spirits & Wine Store

The Fresh Market has introduced its first-ever Spirits & Wine store, marking a significant expansion into the adult beverage market. The new store, situated adjacent to The Fresh Market’s grocery location in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, officially opened its doors on March 7th. Spanning 7,000 square feet, it offers a carefully selected assortment of bourbons, whiskies, rums, vodkas, craft beers, and a variety of domestic and European wines. Additionally, the store features coolers stocked with chilled beverages for added convenience.

Brian Johnson, CEO of The Fresh Market, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting its alignment with the company’s dedication to quality. “The opening of our Spirits & Wine store is an exciting opportunity to build upon our successful beverage program,” Johnson stated. “Our guests already rely on us for top-quality ingredients and exceptional flavors from around the world. Now, they can experience the same outstanding service alongside a premium selection of spirits and wines to elevate their shopping experience.”

At this time, The Fresh Market has not confirmed whether additional Spirits & Wine locations are planned. By introducing a standalone adult beverage store, the Greensboro, North Carolina-based retailer joins companies like Publix, which operates separate liquor stores under the Publix Liquors brand. Publix, headquartered in Lakeland, Florida, launched its first liquor store years ago and has since expanded to more than 350 locations. This launch comes shortly after a leadership change at The Fresh Market.

In January, Brian Johnson was promoted to CEO after serving as Chief Operating Officer since 2020. He succeeds Jason Potter, who has transitioned to the role of CEO at Grocery Outlet.
